The Town of Warner, New Hampshire (population approx. 2900) is seeking a progressive minded candidate to serve as its next Town Administrator. Warner is in the beautiful Dartmouth- Lake Sunapee Region in the western part of Merrimack County, with easy access to I-93 via I-89, and just 20 minutes to Concord, 30 minutes to Manchester, and 80 minutes to Boston which makes an easy commute to all the cultural, educational and medical resources of those cities. It is also only 60 minutes to the beautiful NH seacoast. Warner’s convenient access to the interstate allows residents to easily commute to employment hubs.
Warner is an engaged and diverse community with a vibrant Main Street and its population strongly supports local agriculture, art and music. Warner residents have a deeply felt connection to its town’s history and active community participation in town committees. Warner also has a strong business presence. This four-season tourist area is home to Mt. Kearsarge State Park, Rollins State Park, multiple museums, two covered bridges and a lively downtown.
Warner seeks an administrator that will assist the community to develop its diverse economic opportunities. With a traditional town meeting form of government and reporting to a three-member Board of Selectmen, the Town Administrator coordinates the administration of a workforce comprised of 21 FT employees, 7 PT employees and an operating budget of $4.3 million. The Town is proud of the level of services it provides to the community which include a Police Department, volunteer Fire Department, Department of Public Works and transfer station. Experience as a Town Administrator is preferred. The successful candidate should have significant experience with municipal finance administration, understand local government, have excellent communication, “people skills” and the ability to work collaboratively with town committees and departments. A candidate with strong IT abilities will be preferred.
A degree in Public Administration or related field, five to ten years of progressively responsible experience in a professional environment, municipal experience preferred; OR equivalent combination of experience and education which demonstrates an ability to be successful in the position. Salary range to $110,000. Starting salary commensurate with qualifications. Warner is an equal opportunity employer.
