Somerset County is seeking a proactive, participatory leader to serve as its next County Administrator. Somerset County is the 3rd largest county in the State of Maine in geographic land area (4095 sq. mi) and is 9th largest in population (52,300). Serving 33 municipalities and 82 Unorganized Territories, in the center of the state, Somerset County is the gateway to the mountains, lakes, rivers, and forests of western Maine. The area has a strong social fabric and character that offers a superior quality of life with unsurpassed year-round outdoor activities. The Administrator reports to a 5-member Commission; oversees combined operating budget of approx. $14M; and provides support and assistance to the 15 departments /operating units and as many as 175 employees. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated skills in labor relations, and budgeting; experience with complex public policy/legislative issues, community engagement, and creative problem solving desired. Strong interpersonal & written/verbal communications skills are essential. BA required; MPA or related degree strongly preferred.
