The Town of Hampstead, New Hampshire (year-round population approx. 9000) is seeking an experienced Public Works professional to lead its Department of Public Works which is responsible for Highways, Solid Waste, and Buildings & Grounds. Hampstead has seen significant growth over the last 40 years, while retaining it’s rural, small town NH charm. Located just 45 miles from Boston, Hampstead is a few miles from the MA/NH border and interstate routes 495 & 93, just 30 minutes from the seacoast and an hour from NH’s Lakes and White Mountains regions. Given the recreational opportunities in the area and the ponds located within town, Hampstead also serves a significant seasonal population.
The Director reports to a 5-member Board of Selectmen and oversees a total budget of approximately $1.8 mil, 5 full-time employees, part-time and seasonal staff.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in a related field, plus seven years progressively responsible experience in municipal public works or related engineering operations, including at least three years supervisory and administrative experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Salary range of $77,500 to $116,000; starting salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Hampstead is an equal opportunity employer.
