Barnstable MA Fire District - Water Department Superintendent

The Barnstable Massachusetts Fire District Board of Water Commissioners, a 3-member elected Board, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Water Department Superintendent to administer and manage the operations of the District’s water system. The position requires an experienced individual to accurately and thoroughly ensure that the operations of the Barnstable Fire District Water Department are conducted in regulatory compliance with Federal laws, Massachusetts laws and the District’ s policies to provide an adequate supply of high-quality drinking water.

The Barnstable Fire District Water Department serves historic Barnstable Village on scenic Cape Cod Bay with a winter population of 3500 persons and summer population of 5500 persons. Four full-time employees and one part-time employee supply water to 2,000 accounts from 5 gravel packed wells. The Department is finalizing plans to construct a water filtration facility to reduce PFAS concentrations.

Superintendent candidates must possess a Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Professional Licensure Grade D2/T1 Full Operator Certification, with the ability to obtain Treatment 2 Operator In Training Certification during the probation period, which is one calendar year from the date of employment. Candidates should have 10 years’ experience in the operation/supervision of drinking water systems. A Bachelor of Science in a field related to water supply is preferred. This is a salaried position, FLSA exempt, with a salary range of $80,000 to $110,000; starting salary commensurate with qualifications. Benefits include 80% health insurance coverage.
