Michael King holds a BS in Business management from Boston College and is a graduate of the Boston University Management Development Program. Mr. King joined MRI after 18 years as the Comptroller (6 years) and Executive Director (12 years) for the North Country Council (NCC) - the regional planning commission and economic development district for the northern region of New Hampshire serving 51 communities and 22 unincorporated places. In his role as Director, he was responsible for developing and maintain the regional plan for the 51 member as well preparation and maintenance of the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for the EDA designated district of the North Country. He also was responsible for the funding and development of the Sustainable Economic Initiative in partnership with the Northern Forest Society - this initiative was a four state project (NH, NY, VT, ME) sponsored by the four governors tasked with development of a regional strategy for the Northern Forest. Mr. King’s lengthy career working in one of the most rural regions of New England provided extensive opportunities to experience and directly oversee a multitude of economic development efforts and initiatives, some which succeeded beyond expectations and others which were abject failures – he brings a wisdom and understanding gained for the many lessons learned from all those many efforts. Additional professional involvements include: membership on the New Hampshire Business Finance Authority Board of Directors (2000 – Present); New Hampshire Rail Transit Authority Board of Directors (2010 – Present); National Association of Development Organizations Board of Directors (2004 – Present) and past membership on the Grafton County Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors (2001 – 2010).
