Northfield, NH - Town Administrator
The Town of Northfield, New Hampshire (population approx. 4800) is seeking a progressive minded candidate to serve as its next Town Administrator. Located in the beautiful Lakes Region, Northfield enjoys easy access to I-93, and is just 20 minutes to Concord and 30 minutes to Manchester which makes an easy commute to all the cultural, educational and medical resources of those cities. Although primarily a bedroom community with residents commuting to the many nearby employment hubs, Northfield does have a strong business presence. Given its location in this 4 season tourist area, its proximity to the interstate and to the thriving economic development of neighboring Tilton, Northfield seeks an administrator that will be able to assist the community in further developing diverse economic opportunities. With a traditional town meeting form of government and reporting to a 3 member Board of Selectmen the Town Administrator coordinates the administration of a workforce comprised of 21 FT employees, 6 PT employees and an operating budget of $3.3 million.
The Town is proud of the level of services it provides to the community and its willingness to be progressive is evidenced by its part in developing the Tilton-Northfield Fire Precinct which serves both communities. Although experience as a Town Administrator is not a requirement, the successful candidate should have significant experience with finance administration (municipal preferred), understand local government and have excellent communication and “people skills”. Master’s Degree in Public Administration or related field, 5 years in municipal government; OR equivalent combination of experience and education which demonstrates an ability to be successful in the position. Salary range to $90,000. Starting salary commensurate with qualifications. Northfield is an equal opportunity employer.
